Rowland/Kudritskaya Violin and Piano Duo, chamber concert 5th  December 2019

On Thursday 5th December, several people from my school, including myself, had the lucky opportunity to go and watch a wonderful Chamber Concert at the Assembly Room in Chichester.

We could hear the piano and violin duo practising backstage while we found our seats and it was very exciting to hear it.

Soon the concert started and we listened to beautiful music. The duet was absolutely amazing, both performers very skilled, and it was great to see how good someone could be if they practiced so much.

One of my favourite parts of the concert was Nocturne by Boulanger, which was a haunting and beautiful piece. Both the violinist and the pianist played it so brilliantly, and it was really interesting to hear the changes in dynamics and articulation throughout all the pieces.

A funny part of the concert was when the violinist was playing harder, the bow hairs on his bow kept falling out. It looked so hard to play with that distracting you! Later he explained that it was because he had been using an old bow. He told us a bit about different bows and it was fascinating to hear about all the different types and makes.

Overall, I think it was an amazing experience to hear all the music they played, and I loved hearing their duet as they sounded really beautiful together. I hope I can see lots more concerts like that one!
